Virgin Media “Down the phone line” slow

After spending much time changing and testing my networking equipment and having a Virgin Media helper walk me through a series of lame steps to solve all my Internet problems I think it’s finally time for a new ISP.
Virgin Media’s cable services are excellent (mostly) although it seems they’re just your average BT reseller when using their “down the phone line” services and pretty much unwilling to help with any issues.
The speed shown below is much higher than average (0.9Mb) which is probably down to the time which I’m testing this. My previous ISP gave me the full 8Mb my line is capable of.
