iPhone photos rotate bug

Shiny iPhone 4 still with protective wrap!

At the time of posting this I’m running an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.1 (8b117) and seem to have found a very annoying bug.  After a day or so of playing with the phone, I take some photos and go into the Photos app to view them.

Nearly every photo I take is taken in landscape so I naturally flip the iPhone on it’s side and wait for my lovely photo (can’t fault the camera) to be rotated.  I then get impatient of waiting and flip the iPhone onto it’s other side.  Not a lot happens and I feel like Steve Jobs is mocking me as he sits with another £500 of my money in his bank account..

And just in case anyone assumes I’m a dumb ass, I can assure you that the new “lock rotation” feature isn’t enabled!  I’ve actually tried toggling this hoping it would have some effect in resetting the lock, sadly that didn’t work.

Has anyone encountered this problem and know of a fix?  So far all I can do is reboot the device and wait for the problem to happen again.

here and there and I’m content to report this latest posting is in fact quite good quality and tremendously better than 1 / 2 the various other spam I read today

Upgrading to iOS 4.2 seems to fix this, make sure be careful if you’re upgrading from a jail broken iPhone though!

It’s not a bug, here is the solution:

Double click your home button to see running applications

Slide to ipod controls (left menu)

    Turn off Rotate Lock Function

    That’s it.
