IPhone 3G running iOS4

The new iPhone 4 is here along with it’s shiny new iOS4, this means those of us who are currently in existing contracts still get something new from Apple to play with but are we better off staying far away from the new OS on our older devices?

I’ve seen quite a few reviews and spoken to people with the 3G and 3GS to find out how they’re getting on with iOS4.  It doesn’t take long to figure out that the new offering from Apple is just another kick in the nuts, at least for those of us with the older 2G/3G models.

In particular with the 3G I feel quite let down.  The features on offer make the upgrade almost pointless but put a huge drain on the device with in my opinion, little to no real benefits.  Since the upgrade I’m now finding apps/pages like the Settings can take up to 30 seconds to load.  If I’m out and about and want to snap something with my iPhone 3G camera I’ve got to wait up to 20 seconds before the phone is ready to take a photo followed by another 10 seconds to actually snap and process the data.

My research leads me to the conclusion that this isn’t a unique problem with my setup, many others are suffering when using the laggy new OS,for the first time it feels like a downgrade would be a better option.
